Minecraft has a lot of blocks, but what if they had more? Why do we need them? Please don't just add lists of things - these will be marked as spam and removed! Also, no furniture, guns, or vertical/"sideways"/"upright"/"standing" slabs (yes, we see you).

I didn't expect someone else to post this after I had deleted my own version recently, but it's good to know that there are people that agree with the concept.

    I've personally always pushed that it should be decided by a formula like  X / ( [X-1] + CraftingCost) = %Repaired

Low X values means a lower repair rate, and high values means greater, but shovels always get exactly 100% this way.

Anything less than 1 would be untenable, because 1 would be equal to the efficiency of crafting a new item to combine.

1.5 would mean 1 material repairs 60% of a sword and 17.6% of a chestplate.

3 would mean that 1 material repairs 75% of a sword and 30% of a chestplate.

Mojang really needs to get on this. The Anvil's repair function was ill conceived from the beginning, and has gone unchanged for years.

As you mentioned, Mending is also an issue because of how easy it's become to obtain through exploits, even though it's supposed to be rare.

Well, you keep the enchantments if you mend stuff with an anvil.

But I still agree, mending is sooooooo easy to get if you AFK fish or just make a villager breeder.
