Minecraft has a lot of blocks, but what if they had more? Why do we need them? Please don't just add lists of things - these will be marked as spam and removed! Also, no furniture, guns, or vertical/"sideways"/"upright"/"standing" slabs (yes, we see you).

Bestiary

This idea is for a book called a Bestiary. This would be a book with all the info about the mobs in game but with a twist.

How it works

It would have all the info of the mobs in game like stated above. Though It won't come with all the mobs in it. What you have to do is get an item that represents that mob (So like Rotten Flesh = Zombie) then put that item in the book to unlock the data about that mob. It would tell you a quick little description of it along with health and what it drops. The best way to describe it is like a pokedex. You put the item in the book then get the info

Obtaining

In order to obtain this book is to trade with a Librarian Villager. It would be his final trade that he would give off.

So that's the idea for the bestiary in Minecraft. Maybe to go along with this there could be an advancement called Gotta Catch em' All for getting all mobs in the Bestiary.

    This suggestion is very interesting, I thought about it too and I would love to see something like that in the game :)

    Maybe with the use of the telescope we could make progress in the bestiary

    I thought of the same thing and was about to post it. Honestly, it would be so cool, especially for new players who don't know what mobs drop what items. It could even track like the type of mob you have found. So like EVERY type of axolotl gets tracked with a percentage, or what types of cats you've found

    Let the bestiary be written in full, but each volume is generated only in certain places, for example, the volume with creatures from the Nether - only in the Nether.
    Let the volume contain facts that will be useful to beginners.
    I am opposed to the text appearing by itself, as if the player himself wrote what he did not know. Suppose that when a mob is found in the book, only its sketch appears.
