Minecraft should make Bones a compostable item.
There are debates about adding items to the compostable items pool, but I haven't seen any posts about making bones themselves turn into Bone Meal via the composter.
Many farms produce bones, many more use bone meal, and dedicated players who automate both would benefit from being able to automate the Bone to Bonemeal process. And there's already a block for that!
The concept is simple enough and shouldn't require any additional blocks or major changes to programing - Bones should just be added to the list of items that can be composted and turned into Bone Meal.
I would think using bones this way should produce less bone meal, despite being entirely Bone. Bones can actually be composted IRL, they just require more time, but short of adding a delay penalty having the 1 Bone to 3 Bonemeal ratio via manual crafting table be reduced using the composter makes sense.
IMO, that's a valid trade off as opposed to increasing compost "time" which is not practical within minecraft mechanics. This can be achieved by making bones 30% likely to grant 7 levels of composter fill, 65% to fill 5, 100% to fill 3 layers. This gives players a chance to produce Bone meal every 1-3 Bones used on the composter. Or just 100% likely to fill 7 layers for a 1-to-1 ratio.
The Mechanical reason for the reduced ratio is the storage. If Bones create 3 times the number of items, players need 3 times the number of chests to store them, potentially creating issues.
