Minecraft has a lot of blocks, but what if they had more? Why do we need them? Please don't just add lists of things - these will be marked as spam and removed! Also, no furniture, guns, or vertical/"sideways"/"upright"/"standing" slabs (yes, we see you).

I like where you are going, A great new use for the loom would be to put designs on carpets similar to banners or patterns like the carpets in the Chinese mythology texture pack.

I know carpets are a partial block I think is 1/8th? It makes sense then to spin 8 carpet from one wool block which you can spin a pattern onto 8 carpet sections at a time.

Another similar use would be to customize the blankets and pillows on beds by using a solid color bed as the default item like a plain banner, then customizing the blanket & possibly the pillow in a limited way. I have seen people suggest placing the banners on the beds but I think the loom makes more sense and expands its functionality & potential.

I think if we get this in Minecraft I think we should use it for dyeing shields 🛡

One use I would like to see is the ability to add 'icons' onto banners.
Why icons? Well this would be useful for map makers when using maps on banners to reveal icons on maps, just like Grand Theft Auto does with their icons.

Icons would come from items combined with banners on the loom table.

Maybe also give the loom the ability to apply patterns to carpets and beds.
