The crafting recipe should be this: same as normal hopper, but replace the iron ingots with netherite scraps. This would yield maybe 8-16 hoppers.

Maybe these hoppers could interact with ender chests

I feel like it'd be more of a crafting table recipe, something like 8 hoppers surrounding a netherite ingot, similar to the lodestone. A full stack or even half a stack does seem a bit too cheap, and I think people need to put the effort into obtaining these regardless of how many are used in the actual builds, but that's just my opinion ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Really strongly agree. I think it should be 4 times fast as a regular hopper, because it takes 25 minutes to drain a large chest full of stackable items. Say you had a giant sorting machine and a large chest full of items to sort. The netherite hopper could drain it in less than a quarter the time as a regular hopper. Like other netherite, it would be immune to lava. It would have 10 slots instead of the usual 5. It could be made with a netherite ingot surrounded by hoppers and it gives you 8 netherite hoppers.

I had a similar idea but was thinking the recipe would be the same as an iron hopper. The only difference was that i was thinking a netherite hopper would be blast proof and a gold hopper would be almost as fast as a hopper minecart. Might add a leather hopper that is slower but when water logged would have expanded capacity. Basically all the armor types would have a hopper with a different effect. not sure on Diamond though.
