Crucible

If you put a stone block in the center of a 3x3 magma block platform with a block underneath it, and light a fire 2 blocks below the stone, after 10 minutes the stone block should turn into lava. This is a slow, renewable source of lava that actually mirrors real life. Lava is melted rock, right? So this isn't too fictional.

Edit: Any type of stone would work in the crucible
