The new Nether wood (called stems) looks so different from planks. So when you craft a crafting table out of 4 crimson planks, and see that light brown texture it doesn't look right.
Let's fix that!
Maybe the crafting table, and other wood blocks should not change, since they don't change based on wood type to begin with. Though, it would be nice for builders if all wood made blocks, and maybe even items (like sticks and tools) changed texture based on which wood you used.
Also though, you should be able to substitute cobblestone with black stone in most or many recipes, and when you do, you should get a differently textured blackstone version. Especially with some blocks, like the furnace and pickaxes.
It doesn't look nice when you have a base in the nether, all made of that nice new warped plank block, except for your chest and crafting table.
