The 20w14infinite snapshot introduced many ideas and concepts unlike anything before seen. Several of the "easter egg" dimensions, such as the bridges and library dimensions, inspired me to think of a dimension consisting entirely of one infinite structure.
Imagine an ancient city suspended in the void. Strange vistas of ornate Escher-esque architecture stretch on for eternity. The original inhabitants have long since vanished, and now only abominations and restless spirits dwell here. A thick shroud of gloom limits vision. Chests full of rare and valuable items await those brave or foolhardy enough to venture to this forsaken place, but so does ruin and death. While the enemies here are rare, they are also horrifying and dangerous beyond measure. Disembodied footsteps wander the empty halls, stalking players and preventing them from ever being sure if they are alone.
Each biome would consist of a single district or complex within the city, including monasteries, libraries, palaces, gardens, and mausoleums. These biomes would be interconnected by a labyrinth of bridges suspended on towering stilts, stretching out in all directions towards the horizon. Navigating the crumbling bridges would be treacherous, and there'd also be hostile mobs capable of knocking you into the void.
As you travel, you may find abandoned lecterns in secluded apertures, presenting cryptic messages hinting at the cause of the desolation, or lore written in indecipherable alien tongues…
