Minecraft has a lot of blocks, but what if they had more? Why do we need them? Please don't just add lists of things - these will be marked as spam and removed! Also, no furniture, guns, or vertical/"sideways"/"upright"/"standing" slabs (yes, we see you).

block idea: the spotter

the spotter is a block that looks like an observer with wide eyes and a smirk. you can right click the spotter to choose a block, one a block is chosen the spotter will emit a redstone signal whenever it sees the chosen block. this could be good simple sugar cane farms

    It would be awesome if it could be programmed to send a signal when a mob passes in front of it. Would be perfect for traps that won't be given away by tripwire or pressure plates.
