This is an example of what the biome could look like.
LANDSCAPE:
The Charred Desert is a relatively rare biome in the nether, with a yellow fog and swirling smoke particles. It is mainly composed of ash blocks and charred stone, which are blackened versions of netherrack and soul sand. What is unique about ash blocks and charred netherrack is that fire moves on it's surface, glowing yellow. Ash blocks are affected by gravity. like sand. (Ash blocks are also good furnace fuel) In addition, obsidian can rarely be found in this biome, at the same rarity as redstone in the overworld. You occasionally will find ravine-like formations with lava at the bottom. The terrain itself is rough, with the occasional basalt pillar every now and then.
MOBS:
Only Wither Skeletons and Ghasts spawn in the Charred desert, and very rarely. The terrain itself is difficult enough.
WHY SHOULD I GO TO THIS BIOME?
It is the only place in the nether where you can find obsidian naturally, if you lost your portal. Ash has some good properties for traps and is great for smelting. Charred Netherrack can be cut into bricks, which finally gives us a good black building material. Monsters don't spawn too often, so it can give you a break. (From monsters, exploring would be a bad idea here) Not to mention a base would look AWESOME here.
