Minecraft has a lot of blocks, but what if they had more? Why do we need them? Please don't just add lists of things - these will be marked as spam and removed! Also, no furniture, guns, or vertical/"sideways"/"upright"/"standing" slabs (yes, we see you).

Paper from Piglins

Hoglins drop leather, which is well and good, but it quickly becomes apparent that there is little to no use for leather in the Nether. With gold so readily available, leather armor is out of the question, and one of leather's main uses, that of crafting books, is impossible without a source of paper.

So, I suggest that one should be able to barter for paper from Piglins. This opens up so much more potential for Nether survival.

Gold, as a material for armor and tools, is most useful for its enchantability. Yet, how do you enchant without paper? It defeats the purpose of using gold, especially for tools.

Now, perhaps there is another way of doing this. A new plant, for example, that can be crafted into paper. Until one is added, however, I think this is the easiest solution.

    Where would the piglins get the paper?
    What if they made it possible to get different colored paper from the crimson and warped logs making it possible to craft books that way (the colored paper doesn't do anything different than making the paper of the book you crafted that color paper inside) and maybe if you craft multiple colors of paper together you get a book with paper that goes through random colors of paper (only the colors you used to craft said book). maybe even dye-able paper to go along with that?

    Considering how this barely relates to the topic above should I make this a separate submission?

    Good idea! If mojang was ever to add a gamemode where the player starts in the nether this is a must. The limited crafting palette in the nether makes it quite fun and challenging to survive but giving the player a way to enchant would expand the progression.

    It would also create a neat subversion of what is considered valuable. Whereas normally in overworld paper is seen as abundant in the nether it could be a very rare resource. You could make this an uncommon bartering item and be rarely found in the nether portal ruins. As a side effect people coming from a position of having loads of paper won't get as much 'junk' loot, which I see as an absolute win!

    I think a good idea would simply be to allow 3 or 9 of the crimson or warped vines to be crafted into paper, since piglins already have a very diverse bartering table. Maybe making this only craft one sheet of paper would be good for making it somewhat harder to obtain than overworld paper. Maybe we could even incorporate some other item into the crafting recipe, such as a magma cream that would burn off the impurities from the vines and make the paper more smooth.
