Minecraft has a lot of blocks, but what if they had more? Why do we need them? Please don't just add lists of things - these will be marked as spam and removed! Also, no furniture, guns, or vertical/"sideways"/"upright"/"standing" slabs (yes, we see you).

Lodestone needs a different crafting recipe (including iron)

Lodestone in nature is naturally magnetized iron ore.
Therefore it would make sense for the crafting recipe to include Iron Ore. Also iron loses its magnetization when smelted, so it makes sense to require the Ore and not the Ingot.

My proposed recipe for it would be 5 Iron Ore and 4 Chiseled Stone blocks.

Netherrite Ingot doesn't seem very intuitive and is too expensive for it's purpose. Lodestone could be a feature that replaces writing down coordinates of rare spots, like most players do right now, but Netherrite is too expensive and too late-game for its usage.

    It uses netherite because the block allows you to point your compass at wherever the lodestone is. This is used in all dimensions, and maps don't work in the Nether or the End, so this allows you to find your way there. Iron would be too cheap.

    I totally agree on this crafting recipe idea. Not only would this make it cheaper to make but it would make more sense as well.

    I agree with the idea, but I think your recipe would be slightly too easy to create. Note that the lodestone is an alternative to coordinates, so it should be cheap enough to be easily accessible, but expensive enough to not be made in mass quantities. Adding in a diamond to your recipe would be perfect.

    I agree with the idea that iron should be included in the recipe especially since real lodestone is a magnetic type of iron ore.

    I like the idea of iron in the recipe. I was thinking that it would have iron on the corners of the recipe so it can still have iron and have the netherite. Just a suggestion to your idea.

    I don't think iron would fit. In my opinion, Minecraft doesn't need to be scientifically accurate since it never tried to be. I'd rather have the recipe that is used now, but with chiseled basalt blocks instead of stone bricks.
    This block will probably used the most for a nether home and leaving the Nether for one common overworld block sounds kinda boring. I think these nether blocks should be crafted only from nether items.

    I think an Iron block in the center as a substitute for the netherite would make a lot of sense

    The fact that netherite is required to make this block is for the challenge of obtaining it, not everything is going to be easy

    But why would I spend a whole netherite ingot on a lodestone, if I could just use a screenshot with coordinates, and add an extra damage to my sword. Using coordinates is alnost always easier than obtaining a netherite ingot, rendering the current lodestone as useless as a poisonous potato.

    I agree that it should require iron ore, but the crafting recipe should be shaped like Mojang’s existing one, replacing the netherite ingot with iron ore, and the chiseled stone bricks with either basalt or polished basalt, just to make it a bit more nether-ey.

    Or keep the lodestone's recipe and use a compass or empty map instead of the netherite ingot for the crafting recipe

    Yes!! Make the loadstone recipe cheaper. Use dimond and iron etc. :)

    Playing with a custom data pack recipe of 4 chiseled stones (multi/mix-type) in the corners, 4 copper blocks to ring the edge, and a compass in the center. I agree the loadstone should be more easily accessed than getting neither ingot, for one to reduce needing to F3 or data pack/mods for coordinate displays and feel more vanilla. My material choices were mostly to give copper another use and copper can be induced to make a magnetic field. I mental Minecraft magic the compass is doing.

    I 100% agree with this, lodestones are absurdly expensive for what you get out of them. Iron Ore might be too cheap, but I think an Iron Block replacing the Netherite would be a decent compromise between utility and cost.

    Lodestones have so much potential but unfortunately, I never get the chance to use them as I do not focus on gaining late-game materials such as netherite. I never even knew they had their own unique sound effects until super recently all because I never unlock them. Not to mention that they are a beautiful building block

    Agree. If you want lodestone to avoid using coordinates, you need to be able to "spam" lodestones from early game in order to mark interesting points during exploration.

    Lodestones must be cheap, they need to be available from early game.

    If not iron, even a single piece of ancient debris or a netherite scrap would be slightly better. They might have to make a new resource entirely, iron is too early game and netherite is too late game if you ask me. I see the lodestone being better as a mid-game item.
