The vexes' only purpose is to... kill the player? Yeah, that's the purpose of any enemy on the game, but, the vex is a very meh feature.
However, I think that this could be reverted by dong three things: A new ranged weapon, a new melee/ranged weapon, and a new enchantment,
NEW RANGED WEAPON
The evoker's rod. It spawns the weird alligator-like mouths that the evoker use. And why this is on a vex related post? Because it has 1/10 chance to spawn 1-8 vex. And this will be useful to get the next item.
NEW MELEE/RANGED WEAPON
The vex sword. It's the sword that the vex use. It has the durability of an iron sword, but the damage of a stone sword.It is stackable up to 8.(But isn't stackable when damaged, when enchanted only if has the same enchantments
The true use of the vex sword is that can be shot with a crossbow. And if has enchantments, just as smite or looting, the fired vex sword will have the enchantment applied. The vex sword will be recovered upon the mob/player's death (the vex sword will behave like the arrows when fired against players, when they hit the walls it will drop thenselves wasting 5 uses)
NEW ENCHANTMENT (CURSE)
The curse of poisoning, can be obtained enchanting ranged weapons, applies the poison effect to the target but deals 4 hearts of damage to the entity that uses the weapon.
