Minecraft has a lot of blocks, but what if they had more? Why do we need them? Please don't just add lists of things - these will be marked as spam and removed! Also, no furniture, guns, or vertical/"sideways"/"upright"/"standing" slabs (yes, we see you).

Terrarium for Growing Crops in the Nether

Terrariums, known as the Wardian Case, were used to grow plants in polluted London in the 1820s. They were then used to transport plants from England to Australia, keeping them alive and healthy on a ship. I think terrariums may be used to grow plants in any environment in Minecraft, offering a way to grow food in the Nether in the absence of water.

A terrarium is a glass box containing dirt and a water bucket. Right click with a seed to place it inside. Right click it again once the plant is grown to pop out the food and other items. I think a glowstone block should be used in the recipe as a lamp. This restricts how early you can craft it and allows it to output its own light source.

Saplings can be placed inside but will never grow. Mushrooms can be placed inside but they will not spread. Flowers, grass and dead bushes can be placed as well. This may only grow food that occupies 1 block so pumpkin and watermelon stems can be grown but they will never grow the fruit.

There is something appealing about terraforming an inhospitable environment. Considering water cannot be placed in the Nether, there may be no way to grow food crops such as potatoes or carrots. I believe there should be a way to do it. If you can think of alternatives to water streams in the nether please share them for the sake of the vegetarian hermits out there - I know there's a few.

    I like the idea. Carrots, Patatoes, and Sugar Cane can't grow normally in the Nether and could be cool as a house decoration. Though I do, however know you can grow wheat and turn mushrooms (both Brown and red) into giant mushrooms in the Nether because they don't require water to grow, like pumpkins and melons, it just takes a lot longer, just bring a lot of dirt or some mycelium, and blocks with a high blast resistance, to avoid them from being destroyed.

    A block that you could put anywhere and you fill it with some grass or dirt and put some seeds (look : weird jar)

    I think there should be a block that turns a small space into a terrarium, but not a space that is too big.
