Rename Netherite tools and armor to "Ancient" (Also texture change)

You get Netherite from Ancient Debris. I think it would be cool if the tools and armor are called "Ancient" rather than Netherite. E.g Ancient Helmet, Ancient Sword, and so on. Also I feel like the texture is too close to netherbricks, maybe a colour change of either of them would be cool too!

    Blue or red under tones would look awesome and maybe give it a golden tint since it's made with gold

    I think the name is fine tbh.
    I think "ancient" in "ancient debris" is just describing the debris and not an actual material for crafting. Melted down it becomes a material (like gold nuggets vs gold ingots)

    I think the color seems fine too
    Netherbricks have a dark red color while netherite is mostly black. Some people have suggested having streaks of orange or diamond in the armor but that would be farther from the style of other armors. Considering it comes from "ancient" debris I think it makes since it has an old look to it. If the armor was other nether colors (yellow, orange or red) then it wouldn't really seem as rugged as it does now. Black makes it feel like it's from the ground.

    The texture of the armor could perhaps be changed, but I don't think it should be majorly changed.
    Considering it requires diamond armor, it might make more sense to use some more of the flat looking design elements from diamond armor, but not completely flat looking. Personally I think it already looks different enough to set it apart from other armors while still retaining minecraft's style.

    Personally I prefer the name netherite, ancient is too vague. Also after you forge it it isn't really ancient anymore especially since you make them out of normal diamond tools.

    I like the name change, but the texture feels less necessary. I think that making netherite a different kind of ore than previous ores was a really smart choice--making an ore stronger than diamond is a very overdone thing in mods and speculation at this point, and any attempt to make it fit the typical progression like another gem or overworld ore runs the risk of feeling tacky. The only thing that still feels tacky in that way is the name: "netherite" just seems like a very low-hanging fruit. Ancient Debris is very cool name, very different from the previous ores, and I think having the name of the material made from it sound similar or at least similarly different would make the material feel unique and deserving of its spot above diamond.

    This doesn’t make sense because they aren’t ancient tools, they are diamond tools with refined ancient debris mixed with gold.

    That is a great idea because Ancient sword and ancient axe ancient pick Ancient hoe Ancient bow Ancient all/armor type, just no retexture I named them out so u could decide if they sound better then netherite

    The tools and armor are supposed to be diamond tools and armor infused with netherite, I don't see the argument here. It should stay as it is

    Yes! For the texture, maybe have bits of diamond shining through, make it feel more like an upgrade to diamond, as opposed to just a new armor.

    Netherite is a new inventive name whereas 'ancient' sounds like it was made up by a three year old.

    Netherite is perfectly suitable. Sure you can argue realism in video games or not but it's a mineral/metal/rock that is melted down. It's no longer a discovery. It's implemented in tools it's only proper to demystify the substance. It's a strong material coating diamond. It's derived from the nether. Nether-ite.

    This is... a bad suggestion.
    "Ancient" isn't a material. It's an adjective. Ancient debris contains netherite scrap, which I like to think is the "gold" of the ancients, and they put that stuff in their structures.
    Then you combine that scrap with actual gold to make a strong alloy in the form of a netherite ingot.
    And then you combine that ingot with diamond gear to coat it in netherite and make it stronger. Netherite gear is just diamond gear with a coat of protective netherite. It's not something different.
    And nothing about this process is "ancient". It's just finding scraps found on ancient ruins, combining it with gold, and coating diamond gear with it. It's not something the ancients did. It's something you, the player guy character, invented.

    I disagree, on the grounds that the debris may be ancient but you forge it into something new and current. If there were netherite gear to be found in say, nether fortresses, then i would agree that those should be called ancient, and probably have different stats than what you coat your diamond gear with, and probably have low remaining durability too.

    The thing is, Ancient Debris is just the ore. You find netherite in Ancient Debris so why would the armour be named after the ore rather than the material?
    I imagine that Ancient Debris is from old nether structures which used netherite (maybe piglin) so I doubt they will change the name. This could be a part of the vague in-game lore.
