Basalt Layer in Nether

Basalt should generate naturally in the nether between Y 20-0 (where ancient debrie spawns). i think this will make nether mining more interesting and fun .collecting basalt wich will hopefully have more uses in the future like basalt bricks is better and more rewarding than boring netherack. :) :)

    I like the idea of making basalt more common, but maybe it shouldn't generate in a fully solid layer as that would be a bit overwhelming. Instead, you could find it in patches, similarly to granite, diorite and andesite in the Overworld.

    I think it should be in a kind of patchy layer, similar to how the bedrock gets at y=5. This would cause your mining speed to fluctuate as you go, which would make mining in the nether less monotonous and kind of risky/unpredictable, which fits the dimension quite well.

    I also agree with jabuk zelenik because netherack is easy to mine and this could add pockets to either avoid or persevere through make nether mining less dull.

    Perhaps a 'hardened netherrack' would work better for this, as the basalt is in the soul sand valley.

    I did something similar in one of my mods, where overworld basalt which is black, and could go with blackstone, replaces almost all stone where the lava is and from bedrock to Y 24.

     

    There should be more variants of basalt like rename polished to basalt pillar, add basalt bricks and tiles. Current polished basalt made with 2 vertically, bricks made with 2*2 and tiles made with 3*3, similar to purpur borders. I also think rough basalt should be made with smelting basalt, with the top texture on all 6 sides.
