With the addition of the Soulfire items and Soulfire in the overworld, everyone is wanting the blue fire to make you burn in blue. But why make that the only difference? I propose that when you are ignited by a blue flame you receive a "Soul Burn" effect. This effect will provide the player an additional debuff(s) such as weakness, slowness, or something else (or a combination thereof). This will provide an extra feature to match with the blue flame to make the game more interesting rather than just introducing a color change.
