Minecraft has a lot of blocks, but what if they had more? Why do we need them? Please don't just add lists of things - these will be marked as spam and removed! Also, no furniture, guns, or vertical/"sideways"/"upright"/"standing" slabs (yes, we see you).

Netherite Anvils

The player could craft a netherite anvil using the normal anvil recipe but with netherite ingots/blocks. It would have the benefit of never breaking, justified by the expensive cost.

    So you'd happily find *112* ancient debris just to make an unbreakable anvil? Absurdly expensive in my opinion.. To put it in perspective you could make 28 netherite weapons or armour pieces with 112 ancient debris i.e. 7 *full sets* of netherite armour. Making 50 iron anvils would be an easier task. They last pretty long anyway as it is

    I don't think it should be crafted like an anvil but with netherite instead of iron - the price would be way too ridiculous for anyone to even bother. Instead, I think you should be able to upgrade a regular anvil to netherite like diamond tools, but using a netherite block instead of an ingot.

    This is a great idea, but I feel like the anvil being invulnerable only isn't really that much of a draw, since players that have the resources to make this also most likely have the resources to replace anvils from time to time when they break. I would do one of two things to fix this:

    1. Reduce the cost. Just make the anvil 1 netherite ingot plus an anvil -- it'll still be expensive, but not so expensive as to be useless.
    2. Give it some kind of extra power that normal anvils/other blocks don't have. For example, it could cost less XP to repair things, or allow you to apply enchantments to items that normally aren't able to be enchanted (e.g. giving shears Silk Touch).

    Also, in addition to this, I'd like to see what this would look like. I'm an avid builder, so some darker, carved variant of an anvil would be great!

    Adding on to TheYodaloop's ideas for special powers, the netherite anvil could also have a higher xp level cap for combining items or adding enchantments - something like 50 or 60 instead of 40.

    The netherite anvil shouldn't need any xp to use due to it's expensive costs, shouldn't break, and should be able to apply a new type of enchantment(new enchanted book varients). But the recipie to create one should just be an anvil and 8 netherite ingots. Maybe in the 1.17 or 1.18 updates.

    Maybe it should be like an anvil, but netherite ingots insted of iron blocks and scrap instead of iron ingots

    I like the idea of the Netherite Anvil not wearing out, but i'd like to take it one step further. What if the Netherite Anvil was the first unbreakable block that could be obtained? It would still be gravity-affected like normal anvils, but have a blast resistance of 18,000,000 and be unbreakable. It would be stronger than netherite blocks just like anvils are stronger than normal iron blocks.

    That's a lot of Ancient Debris, so I was thinking of a few changes:

    • Created by combining one anvil with a Netherite Ingot (damaged anvils become damaged Netherite Anvils).
    • Enchantment repairs are twice as cheap, allowing players to repair and name items with far less XP while also letting them repair items that normal anvils would dub "too expensive". Decimals are rounded up.
    • Chance of taking damage would be 6% instead of normal Anvil's 12%.
    • Damage it deals to mobs when falling would accumulate at twice the normal rate.

    In response to what many people on this thread have said about the ridiculous cost of making such an anvil, as well as the redundancy of making it unbreakable, I would like to suggest an edit to this: the anvil has absurdly high durability, but isn't completely unbreakable.

    The netherite anvil's greatest advantage over the iron anvil would be that its xp cap is much, much higher, possibly in the 50's or 60's. This wouldn't break enchanting, though 124 ancient debris is absurdly expensive, so perhaps it should instead be in the upper hundreds. Now, because of how level advancement works, some would probably think you might as well remove the cap entirely, as it's nearly impossible to level up that high anyway. And you know what? I'm not the best judge of that, but I think this is a much better way of making the netherite anvil than simply making it unbreakable.

    Revision suggestions aside, I do really love the idea, and am pleasantly surprised that others had this idea as well!

    The cost of this suggestion seems excessive. Maybe instead of crafting a whole Netherite Anvil from scratch with Netherite how about just upgrading an iron anvil to Netherite with a Netherite Block or Ingot?

    An unbreakable anvil would be much appreciated. I've broken several anvils just renaming filter filler items for a massive sorting machine I'm building.

    I'm for this just for an indestructible anvil -- big flex -- but I wouldn't mind also having another perk of some sort. Obviously it wouldn't burn in lava or fire.

    That is way too expensive. 31 Netherite ingots? Maybe just take a regular anvil and combine it with 1 Netherite Ingot in a Smithing Table.

    I actually like this idea just as it is. Sure it's an absurdly expensive alternative but it'd be a fun thing to grind for and show off without being overpowered. It's also unique as it would enable fully resettable anvil traps since regular anvils take damage from falling

    Also make it so it doesn't have 'Too Expensive!' and Ill happily craft it with 3 netherite blocks and 4 ingots.
