Cool idea, I really like the idea of obsidian sand and the obsidian spires. The mob idea is cool too. It sounds like a mix between a magma cube and a blaze

I have a name for the black glass you mentioned: volcanic glass. Volcanic glass is another name for obsidian, which is the source of the glass you mentioned. The iron shovel is an interesting idea, though it does confuse me a little.

RoyalRex2 (don’t know how to reply directly to comments, sorry) I chose to make it mineable with no less than an iron shovel because normal obsidian needs diamond, but sand isn’t unusually difficult to mine and it certainly doesn’t have as important a use as obsidian.

It would be cool to combine 9 glass sand to get 1 obsidian shard/ingot. 9 shards/ingots will be combined to 1 obsidian block.

I would love some unexplodable glass.

How about the shore is made of ashphalt (ash because it is ashy)? And maybe the spires could be made of obsidinite. Also, obsidinite (but not obsidian) turns into volcanic glass (name from RoyalRex2) if you drop it in lava. Note: like netherite, volcanic glass does NOT burn in lava.

Oh and you can build a nether portal with obsidinite.

Also, what if the ashphalt had yellow fire when it burns?

Mitchell, this idea was talked about by a YouTuber who’s name is “Stealth” you should check out his video. He really did your idea some justice.

I like the idea for making higher tiered tools have a use, it's disappointing hoes and shovels got the short end of things not to mention axes also don't even have any tougher wood where a better tool is required.   this biome also sounds like it is dangerous very fitting for the good materials you can get from it.

With the sand only breakable using gold or above shovel. That could be nice !

Isn't black glass already in minecraft, it'd be better if you could smelt it into obsidian shard/crystal. Which then can be used with diamond or emerald to craft a new block, armour,  or weapon. Btw why an iron shovel, just make it a diamond shovel.

You still get a vote from me, don't worry.

The idea of obsidian shores is interesting, but perhaps basalt shores would be a better alternative (name-wise, at least). Obsidian is created when water mixes with lava, but since water can’t persist in the Nether, there would be no opportunity to make obsidian. Therefore, obsidian sand created in the nether would technically be impossible.

I love the biome but not the mob! That’s most of what I have to say about this post but besides that the biome is kind of what the nether needs right now. I think having the shores just be obsidian instead of a new type of sand would be better though. The devs have tried adding ways to get back to the overworld for players trapped in the nether by adding gravel shores and iron, flint and steel in nether fortress chests but this never really helped if the player lost their nether portal in the first place.

What about using a new variation of soul sand?

Also, there could little islands of this biome in the middle of the lava lakes, and maybe they could have chests on them with small amounts of loot like the new mushrooms or gold nuggets. Maybe even have quartz or rare occasions, a single netherite scrap.

Breaking Obsidian Sand would give Obsidian Dust, combining 4 Obsidian Dust would give an Obsidian Sand and combining 4 Obsidian Sand and 4 Blackstones would give an Obsidian Block.

What would be great are hostile fireballs (or cubes) that pop out of the lava lakes and chase you down.

An alternative would be lava bubbles (not a mob) that randomly occur across lava pools. It would make the bland lava lakes much more interesting to look at!

Now that the Nether received its update already, the End is probably next. I think it would be a better idea to add the Biome for the End instead. These Shores could be islands made of darker blocks like the new Blackstone, obsidian, and maybe some new blocks. (Open for ideas) The islands would be more frequent than the current ones, at closer range of each other, and at different heights making flying through the area a bit more difficult. The islands could have pools of water that fall onto underlying islands. Endermen would not spawn here due to the water and would help filter areas where certain mobs spawn for farms. You could add a new source of lighting like glowing crystals for these dark islands or another form of lighting. This could provide opportunity for a new mob to inhabit the islands here. Something to occupy the pools or inhabit the obsidian fields here. For example, a mob that stays at the center of the pool and range attacks players that come close with a splash effect or some other type of mob.

Cool idea for the black glass from the obsidian sand: You can see through the glass but nothing can see anything on the other side of the glass. You can see through one side and the other side is opaque.

Oh maybe the glass is a bit more blast proof I wish theyd still consider an extra biome update
