Axes are griefing villages

I don't understand. You want people using axes for combat, but you also make axes strip bark, so if you ever fight anywhere near logs you end up accidentally griefing the surrounding area. Even if you are trying to do something non-combat related like opening a door, or eating food from your off hand, you still can end up accidentally stripping bark from logs. It's such a pain replacing the logs EVERY time. There's like 8 new crafting tables, why can't you just have one of those be used to debark logs? Change "Stonecutter" -> "Cutter", and have it cut both stone and the bark off logs? That way axes could actually be used in combat without griefing entire villages (logs being one of the most common block in villages) and you would also be able to strip multiple blocks at a time. I could only imagine how annoying it would be if you needed a lot of stripped logs in a survival build, and you had to strip the bark off one... block... at... a... time.

    This has come to as an annoyance to me as well, considering I have oak logs on my shelter

    That sounds like bad right clicking to me...
    Also, logs aren't the most common block in villages...

    @letoastur ,

    1. Even if you have incredible aim or "good right clicking" whatever that means, you will still eventually make a mistake and strip logs. Go fight a raid in a savanna village with an axe and see for yourself.

    2. Logs are one of the most common blocks in a village, especially in savanna villages.

    I am confused. Is this a java edition thing? In bedrock, all fighting is done with the left button (destroy) and stripping logs is done with a right click (create). If it is a java thing and letoastur plays bedrock, that may explain why their comment confused you.
