Thin Trees

Upon world generation or grown out of a sapling, some trees (like Oak, Birch, Spruce and maybe small Jungle trees) could randomly generate as a thin variant, with thinner logs, similar to the size of a wall block. These new thin logs would give only 2 planks instead of 4 when put in a crafting grid.

As a side idea (maybe a little bit too much tho), these logs could be leaf-logged, similar to how water-logging works, but with leaves. Thin trees would also generate with leaf-logged logs where it would make sense. Leaf-logging should be cross-compatible between different tree variants.

    Hang on - what if:

    Sapling  >> Thin Tree >> Regular Tree >> Large Tree

    Trees could only grow to the next phase if dirt/grass is under them. This way you can keep the tree the way you want with other blocks (including coarse dirt).

    Yes! I think perhaps these should be the second step in the life of all trees. Sapling-> thin tree-> Normal tree. Each thin log should only craft two planks, as well?

    it would also be cool if you could still shear the leaves off the leaflogged log and/or strip the bark off the log while its still leaflogged :))

    Thin birch would be great for the mountain biomes
