Steel wool block: used as a variant of the sponge block and works exclusively with lava. This block would make building things in the nether an easier task and would work great with the nether update. It would also clear underground lava lakes. How can it be balanced?: steel wool would have a multi step crafting recipe. First, 4 iron nuggets and one wool would create a steal wool ball. 9 of these would be crafted into a steel wool block. How would lava be removed from the block?: this process would have a special mechanic in the furnace and blast furnace. You would use a water bucket on the bottom, but the bucket only works for the steal wool. Should it be craftable?: I believe it should be craftable, only because most of the time you don’t need it until later in the game, if this needs to be further balanced, it could be crafted with a sponge block. What if it wasn’t?: the block would most likely spawn in nether fortresses or other new structures.
