Since the Ballista is bigger than the bow, the recipe should be logs instead of sticks, iron instead of flint, and no feathers, because it would be pointless; stabilizing a projectile at that magnitude just wouldn't work.

@trojanhorse69 yeah the crafting recipe can be changed. As long as it's expensive enough to balance the weapon.

Perhaps the ballista could be craftable, but incredibly expensive (iron block expensive) and requires multiple segments: base (iron), pedestal (log) (this is the tipi part of the ballista), Arm and ladder (logs +iron+others) (this is the main part, where the bolts are fired from), and the frame (iron, crossbow, etc). All four of these parts could then be crafted together to get a finished ballista. Why is it in parts? Each part could have variants that affect the finished ballista. EX: the base. A wood base might not hold as well as an iron base. A stationary pedestal isn’t able to move, but one that spins could. The frame of the ballista could be modified to include more power, or special effects, such as, holding a torch to light arrows. Great idea!!

I wouldn't even nerf the accuracy, I would set it so you have to leave the ballista, and manually load it, or have a second player be the loader. A better and more logical nerf is to have a fixed rotation speed in order to really feel like a Ballista. The damage could be higher to make it more an anti-tank role to deal with mobs like ravagers, iron golems, withers, and the ender dragon easier. With the given drawback that a ballista is a stationary target with little to no cover. If more nerfs were necessary, have a fixed rotation radius or simply make the recipe more expensive. This could be done by requiring the players to craft multiple parts to put together
