Minecraft has a lot of blocks, but what if they had more? Why do we need them? Please don't just add lists of things - these will be marked as spam and removed! Also, no furniture, guns, or vertical/"sideways"/"upright"/"standing" slabs (yes, we see you).

Obsidian rods and plates

Obsidian has only a few proper uses in the game, and some are only needed to be made once.

This idea involves using obsidian to improve preexisting armor, weapons, and tools through a durability buff 250.

Obsidian rods would be crafted with 2 obsidian, one in the middle left slot and one in the bottom left slot.

Obsidian rods would replace sticks in a crafting recipe for weapons and tools.

They would also now have an obsidian colored handle.

Obsidian plates would be crafted with 2 obsidian, one in the bottom left slot and one in the bottom middle slot.

These would surround an armor piece in a crafting table.

They also now have a pattern similar to dyed leather armor, with the brown spots being obsidian colored and the dyed area being whatever material the armor is.

    I'm not sure how this idea could work, but this isn't it. Perhaps instead of using the crafting table, obsidian rods and plates could be added to already-existing tools and armor using the grindstone. This would fit better thematically: The crafting table is no longer used for repairing tools, after all.

    Since the grindstone removes enchantments, perhaps the obsidian could also provide an enchantability bonus. It wouldn't bring it up to gold level, but it would be fairly close.

    Obsidian plates are now instead using 4 obsidian. Recipe is like the crafting table
