(name probably needs a change) The biome starts out as a decayed, grey land. However, somewhere in the biome there is a tree (only one tree in the whole biome) called the [life] tree. One tree is not enough to bring life to the biome however so the player must break this tree to obtain saplings so that more can be grown - after a certain amount of these trees are grown in the [dead] biome it converts into a [life] biome - the land becomes more lush and colourful, and distinct features that were once hidden are now visible (e.g. new ores, new animals, new plants, new large trees) - pretty much, the land becomes full of life and overgrown. Maybe the mobs (fireflies?) could be tamed so that they follow you and heal you. Maybe the ore could provide a new mineral which crafts into blocks that are a green light source which heal within a certain radius. There could even be ancient ruins in the [life] biome which contain old recipes for different foods (that add extra hearts like a golden apple?), tools, and armour (that provides speed/jump boost whilst equipped?) which cannot be crafted without the recipe being found. Perhaps when you're in the [life] biome you could get a slight regeneration buff and when you're in the [dead] biome you could get hunger or something? Maybe there could even be a new boss??
It would be quite a big update I guess but it would definitely add a lot more colour to the world as well as providing more things to do to give the player more of a purpose.
