Magic Scrolls (Single-Use Item)

Idea: Implement a single-use item (A scroll) that would cast a spell. These would be "late-game" items.

Types of Scrolls:

  • -Fire Scroll: Shoots out a small fireball like a Ghast attack. The recipe would contain Fire charges.
  • -Water Scroll: Shoots a stream of water. You can click/hold or click multiple times for a total use of 5 seconds.
    (Damage of the Fireball & Water Scrolls would be the same, offering variety and balance). The recipe would contain prismarine shards.
  • -Air Scroll: A fast air-like projectile which causes light damage and no area of effect.
  • -Earth Scroll: Throws a slower boulder that causes more damage and a slow effect. 
  • -Light Scroll: Casts a bright light around the player for up to 5 seconds that damages mobs/players that are less than 5 or 10 blocks from the caster. Undead mobs would take bonus damage.
  • -Dark Scroll: Casts an area of effect (5 block area) that would blind players, and possible cause a wither effect. The recipe would include wither roses.

Other Scroll Ideas:

  • -Lightning Scroll: Summons a bolt of lightning that strikes where the player is looking. Unsure
  • -Regeneration Scroll: Spawns a small tree that provides a small regeneration effect for 10 seconds, then despawns. The recipe would include golden apples, ghast tears, and saplings.
  • Magic Missile Scroll: Shoots a tracking magic missile, similar damage to the Fireball/Water Scrolls.

    Good idea. I was thinking maybe instead of the scrolls being single use, maybe they could use xp instead the way enchanting tables do

    I had the same idea, I just think you could add a lot more variety for example:

    Medley scrolls: Give a mixture of status effects suited for a particular task, for example, water scroll - gives aqua affinity, water breathing, and increases underwater vision.

    Damage scrolls: when used, creates a splash potion effect around you that affects everyone but you. ex. fire scroll - sets every mob within 10 blocks on fire.

    Special scrolls: rare, only obtainable from loot chests, give unique effects. ex. Flight Scroll - lets you swim through air by sprinting and jumping. Spider Scroll - lets you climb walls, see in the dark, and move through webs, and gives jump boost. Enderman scroll - lets you teleport short distances.
