I’ve had an idea for a new combat system and with 1.15 looking like it may be a combat related update I figured now would be a good time to post about it. My idea for combat is to keep the idea of a swing timer but instead of having it for the regular hits, the timer would be for crits (this would replace hitting on the way down from a jump)and knockback range. So basically you could still spam click like 1.8 combat, with maybe a minuscule damage drop off, but give very little knockback. But if you wait for the timer to hit you do a crit for more damage and also do a good bit of knockback. Because of the knockback I would hope you would be able to combo your hits that way waiting for the timer would be more viable since you do more damage but it would also take a bit of skill. Along with this I would like the timers to be a little bit faster but still keep the speeds proportional to each weapon. Basically so swords are still faster than axes but axes do more damage than swords. I like that aspect of the 1.9 combat but I still think all weapons need a little bit of a faster timer. I don’t really know about shields but I would still keep them and have them block any hit but have a slight cool down also. I know there is a thing with disabling weapons so I’d make it where you have to wait for you weapon timer to recharge in order to swing again. If you like this idea please vote for it, and make some suggestions if you have any to change combat too.
