I think it's a good idea but you could immediately grab it of your back and fight.       I voted!

I think you should be able to carry multiple things on your back. Above the off hand slot there would be three more slots for your back, players can put swords, shields, axes, pickaxes, shovels, hoes, bows, crossbows, maces, and tridents in these slots. If players choose a sword, shield, and trident for these sheath slots than the player would be walking around with a sword at a angle on his back, the trident at the opposite angle, and the shield straight and slightly in front of the other items exactly how warriors would have carried these weapons (assuming they're carrying them on their back and not their hip, which wouldn't work for Minecraft). Weapons like swords, axes, pickaxes, shovels, hoes, and maces would have the handle pointing up. Items like tridents, bows, crossbows, and shields would have their ends pointing up. When you have three weapons sheathed and non of them are shields than one of the weapons would go straight up, whichever one works best for that situation.

    Uses:

    1. It would look so extremely cool that everyone would do it even if it was inconvenient. If that's not a use I don't know what is.

I've run out of space for this comment, so I'm going to make a separate post for it, please check it out! :)
