The furnace would be crafted with 8 obsidian blocks and a blast furnace in the center. In the furnace there will also be a slot for a bucket. When smelting smooth stone, andesite, diorite, granite, or magma it will turn into lava if there is a bucket. Smelting cobblestone will create magma blocks. The furnace can smelt everything but can't cook food. [UPDATE] I feel that to give the obsidain furnace a purpose other than just being able to melt rock, it should also be able to melt metal (gold and iron). My idea for this is that the metal ore will be placed in the furnace (aswell as a bucket) then the furnace will start smelting 8 ore at a time. The furnace will still use the same amount of fuel and take the same amount of time as if you were smelting it seperately. Let's say you're using iron, when the 8 iron is done it will create a bucket of iron. The bucket of iron will be hot and do damage like lava, when it is placed next to water it will turn into a block of iron. This means that if you put a stack of iron into the furnace it will be able to make 8 buckets of iron and since each one gives you nine iron ingots when turned into a block, you would have 8 more peices of iron than smelting it normally. The numbers could obviously be tweaked but I think this would be a cool feature since fortune doesn't work on metals and I also feel like it would encourage mojang to add more metal ores (;
