Different Dog Breeds that have Different Functions

I was reading the pinned post explaining what should be suggested under the mobs topic and it said something about mobs should be new and serve a purpose and that re-skinned dogs didn't. What if we could breed dogs and wolves and give them different functions. For example: 

One breed could help you track certain mobs another could help you find items in the ground or something like that. Others could even have more health like horses or do more damage.

Brainstorm and discuss below!

    I think the top 50 breeds in the akc should be added that way most people get their type of dog I know it is a bit much but essential for a non biased dog breed list. Cats could get a large system too

    They should have Boykin spaniels that are good at swimming and retrieving and are brown. They can also flush game. The English Springer spaniel should be the same as the Boykin but liver and white or black and white and not as good swimmers but are still good at swimming. Chesapeake bay retrievers should be the same as Boykins but even better at swimming With shorter ears.The American water spaniel should be so good as the chessie but flush game. (All sporting spaniels should flush game because they do)

    Game are birds in the case of hunting dogs and they are hunted for different meats

    This has to be very complex to be 1 realistic 2 every body gets there breeds so keep track of breeds on here look at their AKC info and put them in game integrated with villagers and pillagers they help them do work fisherman fish and dogs help they go to the nearest body of water on horseback with two iron golems and some dogs for protection when they go far away.

    The top 20 AKC breeds should definitely be added plus things related to them found in the history section of each part of the akc breed webpage (note: pit bulls are not breeds they are a group of breeds that originally were made for blood sports but got converted into nice dogs.)

    I don't agree with the feeding system. There should be a characteristics system which means when a wolf is tamed the wolf has a random characteristic. Then depending on the combo and amount of times the characteristics are bred the different breeds are created like retrieving plus retrieving plus flushing plus flushing plus water dog equals English Springer Spaniel. Other combos are welcome. :):):):):):):)

    Imagine Doberman + dog armor that = PvP helper. The Doberman would have the same behavior as the current wolf the mix is defender dog + defender dog. Dog armor is like normal armor but for dogs.

    Retrievers retrieve they don't attack birds the owners shoot the birds and the retrievers bring the birds back and sorry for making so many comments it's just I love this idea and maybe there could be some useful thing about cats other than scaring away creepers and phantoms like catching fish out of water.

    I do love this idea. However, I feel like the breeds should be slightly different than most comments I've seen have said. This is because people should know what type of dog they're looking at. Most people won't recognize a foxhound or a Schnauzer. So, I think the breeds should be: Golden Retriever, German Shepard, Border Collie (instead of sheepdog), Husky, and maybe Pug or a Hound. The functions should be different depending on the animal. For instance, the German Shepard should have better attack damage and health. The Border Collie should have the ability to herd other animals, maybe the pug can bring you stuff, or the Hound can hunt other mobs, whether hostile or not. And the Husky should be able to survive in the cold, while others can't. Or maybe be able to hook up to a sled team for mobility. All of the breeds should be chosen at random when taming a wolf.

    tyranitar1012 this could teach them about new dog breeds so rare breeds should still be added. Also what if the english foxhound goes extinct like the english water spaniel. It would be so sad if those rare breeds go extinct. :(

    Like an Update that is the "The Companion Update," It updates dogs and will have different breeds all that I'm hoping for is a choco lab and the update adds armour for ALL pets and beds that heal pets when they sleep and you can make pet food that heals more when used like for dogs you can get four meat, raw flesh, and bones then you get "Dog Food" or Fish for cats and so forth and so forth

    I like this too and I want different dog breeds, but they need to keep the original Minecraft dog breed too or else its not good

    I love this idea. It would be really cool. There might also be different breeds. Like a bloodhound for tracking, a poodle for dog shows (?), and a boston for camping or being outside? I vote %100 yes for new dog breeds.

    I tink that dogs in Minecraft are cute but they are definitely not as cute as cats in Minecraft cause they have breeds but dogs don’t have breeds. And I know that mods have dog breeds but it would be better. This is my wish

    Dogs are neglected in Minecraft, and I want to fix that with six new breeds: The classic Minecraft Wolf, the Labrador, the Golden retriever, the Bulldog, the Dachshund, the Husky, and the Great Dane.  The classic Wolf would function just like the Minecraft Wolves already in the game, with no special abilities.  The Labrador, found in plains, would act very loyal to its owner, and if it's owner went below 5 hp in battle, the Labrador would give its owner a little bit of regen, similar to the axolotl, but on land.  This ability would have a two minute cooldown.  The Golden Retriever, found in extreme hills, will retrieve one to four items from your drop pile for you whenever you die.  The Bulldog, most commonly found in badlands, would attack anything that comes near it except its owner, making it a good guard dog if you tie it on a lead.  The Dachshund, from savannas, would attack from four times the range of a normal dog.  The Husky, found in taigas, would be able to howl and stun enemies when it is attacked, giving them slowness and weakness for two seconds.  This ability would have a thirty-second cooldown.  And last but not least, the Great Dane, the rarest breed only from new 1.17 mountains, would give itself and its owner a new effect called Dog's Fury, which doubles the attack damage and defense.  Also, you could be able to breed two dogs, and the puppy would look like only one of its parents, but gain both's abilities, making a "superdog" with every ability possible.

    I totally support this idea, and i've done some independent thinking before seeing this. Giving dogs a new look similarly to cats would be great, and giving them new function would be better. For example: sheep dogs keep your animal on you land. Bloodhounds track enemy mobs using their drops, such as, rotten flesh, spider eyes, and skeleton bones. And lastly defensive dogs, like the Pyrenees mountain dogs, which defend territory.

    AHH!! I'm always saying this!!! Specific breeds could do specific things! Golden retrievers could RETRIEVE loot! Border collies could herd cows, pigs, sheep, etc towards you, and german shepherds could be able to find buried treasure. Greyhounds could be very fast and Doberman could be very strong! it'd even be educational because you could learn the original use for different dog breeds!!

    What if they had 4 or 5 breeds? I have some ideas.
    1. Golden retriever- yellowish white or just yellow. Needs to move, will shake if sitting for a long time. Stays closer than other dogs.
    2. Basset hound - brown and black or brown black and white. Will follow an animal for 5 blocks and if you don't follow them, will turn around. They are better at hunting than all other breeds.
    3. Boston terrier - black and white, brown and white, grey and white, or all white. Will be ok sitting or standing, stays close, likes to play for a while, smaller.
    4. Border collie - black and white. Will chase farm animals when put on "herd mode" and the animals will run. This could be used for farms to get animals from one pen to another. Loyal, and fast.
