A new biome called an “Ice Cave.” The cave doesn’t go down because if it did water would be there. Polar Bears live in the cave and there’s stalactite hanging from the ceiling. Blue Ice and Crystals add glimmering glory to the cave.

In the ice caverns, there should be a rare mini boss: the yeti.
Description: A tall, muscular monster covered with white fur and claws. It has 75 hearts and will have some special abilities. It has a melee attack of 10-12. He has three special abilities:
1) He can throw ice or stone blocks varying from 5-8 attack damage.
2) He can use ice magic to incase players in ice or summon ice spikes to do 6 attack damage.
3) He can call upon nearby polar bears to aid him in battle.
Once defeated, he will drop an ice crystal. It can be used to create an ice staff. Crafting recipe is 1 ice crystal, 2 amethyst, and 2 copper ingots. The staff has three uses; summon ice spikes, shoot ice blocks, or incase players/mobs in ice. Has 300 durability, but each ability uses durability from the weapon. It can be replenished using a nether star.
The Ice Caves would only spawn under cold biomes such as snowy mountains and frozen tundras. They should be covered in Ice, Snow, Packed Ice, and Powder Snow. It should have any ice version of the stalagmites that generate in them called icicles.
Now with the Caves & Cliffs update coming ahead, I think this would be a great way to tie in Powdered Snow, the new mountains and the new caves. There are lots of fascinating glacier caves in many regions of the world, frequently occuring in mountains like Mt. Rainer in Washignton, and in other semi-snowy areas like Switzerland. They also occur mostly throughout glaciers in the arctic/tundras. I think they should occur as independent cave biomes that in order to generate must intersect with/go through a mountain, tundra or snowy taiga biome. When you look at images of glacier caves and mountains, you can see them forming as relatively narrow and low tunnels, eventually curving expanding into more medium caves. That means its generation could be close to some of the tunnels we saw at Mincraft Live, and also similar to some of the Lush Cave footage that was shared on Twitter (a "medium" sized cave). These glacier cave are characterized by the blue color and interesting patterns the ice makes, which could be perfectly represented using blue ice. Some ice pillars also form occasionally when the cave is big enough. Pointed ice could also be seen on the ceilings in real glacier caves, but I think this would be too similar to Pointed Dripstone. Finally, as some people suggested, I think Powdered Snow and normal snow would really tie in that cave with other features and add more danger/challenge to it, maybe even Strays as well.
What if there was a mini boss and it is a ice dragon? Well if there is going to be an ice cave biome, it should probably have a lava or fire cave with its own dragon and they spawn naturally with an egg that you can hatch and breed the ice and fire dragons to create the red dragon which could be tamed. The ice and fire caves could have other dangers like an open nether portal leading right to a bastion remnant or nether fortress for the fire or lava caves and for the ice caves to lead to an ice fortress which is located below the ice caves. the attacks for the three different dragons all have different ranged attacks; fire breath, ice breath, and a combination of the two. The loot for defeating the ice fortress could be magic ice wands. The breeding foods could be goat meat.
Please please please Mojang! Many of us really want this biome! And a lot more aren’t asking for a yeti or some new mob or anything! Just an ice cave in the mountains would be fantastic!! With powdered snow.. and maybe retextured stalactites and stalagmites? And ice.. heaps of ice. You could also retexture the amethyst crystal to be ice-like I think this would be so beautiful! Maybe diamonds would spawn there more often? Idk but please! 😩 I wish this post had more votes!
This is an amazing idea, I was honestly surprised it isn't already announced. feels like a no brainer especially since theese types of caves even exist in real life which would be great inspiration. It could also be challenging adding the freeze effect if u stay in for long enough without leather armor. Also I think I'd be great if while climbing the new mountains u could fall thru the new powdered snow into theese ice cavers, it would make it challenging and a cool way to find the caves. Same way the lush caves use the azalea tree this could use the powdered snow to indicate a ice cavern bellow.
Had a dream last night that had exactly what you said, like if a dripstone cave is under a snowy biome than the entire cave would be covered in ice, stalactites and everything included with polar bears. Maybe it could make it possible to create icicles by covering it in blue or normal ice. (Kind of how a stalactite grows the icicle can melt when warm, or grow like a normal stalactite when normal.)
Maybe to give players an incentive to go here, they could have an iceologer or a hostile mob like it be a "mini-boss" here like a dungeon. And to make it more freaky it could se the blocks around it to fight you. Maybe have a "Ice Palace" it resides in like a Deepdark city, or it's own mansion of sorts hidden away in a cave.
I think what would make this even better is if they were Blue Ice Caves. The reason why I say that is because blue is a very rare color in nature and Blue Ice has a light level of 4, making the cave look shiny and glowy!
