Charred Blocks

When blocks burn or are next to a burning object (like lava) the block instead of turning to regular dirt, or just simply being replaced with air, it should turn into a charred block. This will fix many issues with floating trees, someone committing arson on your house and you not being able to tell if they just broke the blocks, among other things. It would also provide an easy way to get coal/charcoal without mining. These blocks could also have multiple stages, and even re-light fires if the block is still "hot."
