Experience and enchanted books and items all have only one purpose respectively.
Let's change that.
Experience is used as "fuel" for spells.
Different (already in-game) enchantments have different spells when on books.
Right-click to cast,short casting animation ensues (sound effect and simple animation) and effect granted.
Minibosses (elder guardian, horsemen etc.) can drop unique magic items with different effect, like evokers with totems.
Experience bottles could be created by holding bottles when picking up xp orbs and would be drained by spells instead of your xp bar when in your hotbar. To prevent farming they only stack to 8 and give very little xp when broken.
Spell ideas:
-Protection enchantments give passive resistance effects and drain xp over time
-sharpness, smite and the like are short range offensive spells
-enchanted books will be worn down with use like anvils instead of having a health bar
