several throw potions

You could lead several throw potions in yor hotbar - or in your offhand - with you.

4 or 8 … or 16?
As compensation you could give a cooldown analogous to the cooldown of the ender pearl.

Or there's a cooldown, which means that you can not throw the next throw potion far enough away so you hit yourself with it as long as you don't charge it long enough.
What may even be wanted under circumstances.

This cooldown can take a outrageously lot of time.
For example, 1 or 1.3 seconds - maybe?
