Inventory in Minecraft could use a change. Isn't it silly that 64 gold blocks takes up less space than a sapling and an apple. Players should be allowed to carry as many different items as they want, with a simple limit to the TOTAL number of items someone can have.
So, imagine the same inventory as right now, except it now has a search bar up top, a scroll bar on the right, and a counter up top. The counter says 'x' /1000, with 1000 being the players item limit, and 'x' being the player's current held items. The search bar can be typed in, which causes only items matching the search to appear in the inventory (everything else disappears. The scroll bar is for scrolling through the inventory, since as the player collects more types of items (more stacks) the inventory gains more rows. NOTE: everything I just said is ignoring the crafting grid, the player model, and the armor slots. The search bar, item counter, and scroll bar go right next to 9 by 3 inventory grid.
