Caves in minecraft have pretty much stayed the same for as long as it existed, and people have been wanting a better mining experience for a while now as well. if we are on the topic of mining, why not get nether involved as well? It has been a long time since the nether has had a major update, and people only visit there mostly for quartz and glowstone. While I was looking at the Aether mod, I saw the possibilities that could exist within a new dimension, so I went to generate a world and started working out ideas that I could send to Mojang regarding the next 1.15 update.
I have recently traveled to Australia and the one thing that caught my eyes the most were the caves that I visited. So I tried to picture how it would look in a minecraft world, and I came up with this. The megalith dimension. This dimension would use similar world generation as the new buffet option to generate cave worlds. I thought Mojang can perhaps work out a variation that can bring the upper limit of the cave generation higher so more caves can generate under the "surface" of the world. The special thing about this dimension is that it is specifically for mining. Lots of the common resources cannot be found here such as an abundance of wood, coal, iron, etc. This dimension is only meant for those players who have conquered both the nether and the end.
I will post more threads talking about details of the different things I have in mind
