Having more options within video games is generally seen as a positive attribute, especially with a platform such as Minecraft where the options of what to do are seemingly endless. Many Minecraft players saw the change in 1.14 to allow stacking of protection enchantments as a wonderful change, as it allowed us to work hard towards a very high tier of item. This was a good change for both casual and more hardcore players.
Another factor is the differing strengths of the various enchantment options. When this change becomes reverted, most people are going to go back to generally only using normal protection while currently in 1.14.2 we are able to make use of all enchantment options with some work and a high XP cost.
Judging by the feedback in youtube comment sections as well as the players on my server, many people are disappointed in the change and will be seeking to revert it using data packs/mods/plugins.
I thank you for reading my statement, I hope that this shared opinion will be taken into consideration when releasing this new update.
