I like the idea of using clubs to smash away blocks, but there should also be some blocks that cannot be smashed like iron and obsidian. Different types of blocks should have different amounts of time till they are broken (e.g. wood 2 secs, stone 10 secs, gold 4-5 secs and sand and gravel 0.5 secs etc). The trolls could go to the weakest block it can reach to attack an enemy. It would add some realism because you could spawn some outside your castle and they'd actually be able to get inside by smashing through the gates.

Ok, but the trolls are not smart so they would not chose the quickest path to you.

They should live in the mountain biome in some kind of caves what aint deep. And there shold be different types of trolls and they could also throw rocks at you. But its a good idea tho

I think it would be cool if they petrify in the sun thats why they only live in caves and the dark oak forest when they are petrified you can crack them with a pickaxe and then they drop ore the stronger maybe then there are diffrent sorts of trolls for ecry ore except netherrite

They should turn to stone when exposed to daylight. Either temporarily or permanently.

Perhaps the trolls could spawn in caves of specific chunk regions like slimes currently do. The could also spawn in Mountain biomes during a full moon, again like slimes do with swamps.

I like this idea, but they shouldn't be bigger than Iron Golems.

This would be so cool! I have an idea for a fun easter egg with this idea. Maybe when you ring a bell, trolls will try to flee (like hoglins and piglins with soul torches) for a little while before trying to attack you again. This would reference the Netflix show Hilda, where trolls are repelled by ringing bells.

I love this idea! I have always loved the idea of trolls being in Minecraft. Not necessarily the more modern fantasy one of today but the classical Scandinavian trolls, particularly the nocturnal giants from Norwegian, Swedish, and Icelandic Folklore. They could be giants that would adapt to the overworld biomes, such as swamps, lush caves, mountains, forests, rivers, ice spike, hills, and/or lakes. They could stand 4 blocks tall and 2 blocks wide, with an upright, proportionately slender humanoid frame that features long, thick limbs. They could sport long noses and big ears, and may have up to 3 heads. They can break any blocks as strong as wood or maybe stone blocks, but nothing over obsidian. They may be neutral, but territorial mobs that spawn alone or in a trio at most in their own homes in their respected biome, they also might be able to eat other mobs and/or players, and if exposed to sunlight for too long will have a 50% chance of either bursting into pebble particles or turning into a statue that if mined with a pickax enchanted with silk touch can be collected as a trophy or decoration of sorts.

Trolls should spawn out of a 2x2x2 area of stone from the side of mountains or in caves.

I think this could be a good alternative to the scrapped giant mobs.
