We have granite, which is intrusive felsic, diorite, which is intrusive intermediate, and andesite, which is extrusive intermediate. Why not complete the set of stone variants with rhyolite, which is extrusive felsic, gabbro, which is intrusive mafic, and basalt, which is extrusive mafic? They would have corresponding polished variants, as well as stairs, slabs, and walls, providing some new building materials.
Rock deposits could be made larger, and biome or depth dependent. For instance, intrusive rock types could be more common deep underground, while extrusive rocks could be more common near the surface. Mafic rocks could be more common in and around ocean biomes, while felsic rocks could be more common in land biomes.
