The existing functionality of the 'Bell' item is great, however the AI of villagers still struggles with location their bed if their job block is rather far away. Problems arise when the villager adopts a bed far away from their claimed job block, and a long daily walk is required to and from said bed/block. The bell currently acts as a warning/alert, forcing villagers to take refuse in the nearest house, not their bed. If the bell doubled as a method to force villagers back to their own beds, this would help 'lost' or 'stray' villagers return and prevent villagers from overpopulating even better.
This slight change would still keep the initial idea intact, proving shelter for otherwise endangered villagers, and would simultaneously make villager management easier.
If this change should not be considered, then another counter idea could be a method to make placed job blocks/beds toggleable (in survival as well) as a non-villager bed/block. That way villagers would not stray long distances for their daily tasks, and the player could indeed have his or her own bed.
Let me know if this idea can be improved upon or is already suggested!
