Obsidian shards would be made by placing a piece of obsidian on a crafting table. It would give you 4 obsidian shards.
The obsidian shortsword would be made by using 2 obsidian shards with a stick in a crafting table.
The obsidian shortsword is a sword that has the same durability as a diamond sword. It has very low range compared to other swords, and does the same damage as a stone sword. What sets it apart from other weapons are 2 things.
1: the obsidian shortsword can be swung .5 times faster than other swords.
2: when it damages an enemy, it has a 10 percent chance to inflict the bleeding effect. Obsidian is known for being insanely sharp irl so this would make a bit of sense in-game.
The bleeding de-buff causes enemies to take 20 percent more damage, going up by 10 percent each level up to level 3 (40 percent more damage.)
The obsidian shortsword can be enchanted with the other sword enchantments, as well as a new one. Cutting edge.
The cutting edge enchantment causes the sword to give a higher chance of causing the bleeding effect, as well as give a higher level of bleeding. Here are the 4 levels of the Cutting edge enchantment.
Cutting edge I: bleeding has 20 percent chance of happening.
Cutting edge II: bleeding has a 30 percent chance of happening, and it has a chance to inflict bleeding II.
Cutting edge III: bleeding has a 40 percent chance of gappening, and it will inflict bleeding II.
Cutting edge IV: bleeding has a 50 percent chance of happening and it will inflict bleeding III.
You can also make a bleeding potion by putting an obsidian shards in a brewing stand with other potion ingredients.
