Minecraft has a lot of blocks, but what if they had more? Why do we need them? Please don't just add lists of things - these will be marked as spam and removed! Also, no furniture, guns, or vertical/"sideways"/"upright"/"standing" slabs (yes, we see you).

Wind Vent block + Added modes

This block could be placed down to create a updraft of wind. Players flying with an elytra can get a height boost from these updrafts.

The block can also be upside down to make downward drafts, or on the walls to push away mobs, items, players.

The block placement can be placed similarly to a dispenser block meaning it can be placed at all angles

The drafts can vary upto 6-10 blocks and would need to be activated by redstone to power the vent on.

Perhaps the vent can have a container inside of it?

-putting in a blue ice block can make the vent into a literal cooler to let out icy winds (Spreading piles of snow when turned on. Can also cause mobs/ players to move even slower when trying to get near it.)

-putting in a magma block to make the vent into a radiator to let out warm winds (To melt things over time or to create a stronger and faster updraft when flying via elytra. If put on the ground, players who jump against the wind draft going up, may jump higher and stay floating untill they get off or get to another platform)

-putting in a soul sand block would make the vent into a suction vent (Sucks mobs, items, or players to itself.)

Wind vents would add a new dynamic to the game and spark new inventions using redstone. Plus it would be fun to play with wind in the game.

    The block should be able to blow (or suck) entities as well as players. My thought was that it could be used as part of a farming system (e.g. clean away sugar cane entities that water can't reach).

    I'm not sure about it having inventory though.

    If you had a wind block in suck mode then things should just get stuck to the wind block until it gets switched off. At that point, gravity applies as normal and entities can then be captured with hoppers or a water stream, etc.
