Minecraft has a lot of blocks, but what if they had more? Why do we need them? Please don't just add lists of things - these will be marked as spam and removed! Also, no furniture, guns, or vertical/"sideways"/"upright"/"standing" slabs (yes, we see you).

My thought on how this can be achieved:

In the "tags" folder of a datapack (within the "items" folder of said folder) there could be a new tag called "compostable". We could also have a tag for the individual items (be it in game through an item tag, or in the datapack items folder as well) which could be as easy as "compost": "true".

This would also be handy for map-makers, as a way to implement a new form of composting, where instead of composting crops, you could use blocks.

Composter renamed Processor. Upon placement on dirt or wood, it turns into a composter. On Stone, a Fermenter. You put your items in (2x2) and close the fermenter. If they are a fermenting combo, animation occurs. During fermentation, either be unable to open FM or reset the time/add to it if you open. Also can do multiples of same item if single item ferments.
You wait...(like pumpkins)...and presto. Animation stops, you have fermented foods. This opens up Vinegar and Sake. Milled Rice ferments to Sake. Sake ferments to Vinegar. Vinegar has an array of uses; seasonings, chemical reactions in education edition, acid flask with magic, etc.

The placement specifics leaves options open for down the road. I would leave all terrain minus stone for composter for now and have farmers either remain the same (tied to the CP) or updated.

The fermenter works in exact change (no Apple Pay.) it will not start fermenting if there are any remainders (uneven distribution of ingredients.)
