Desert Update Part 2: New Desert Generation and Exploration
Hello Everyone. This is part 2 of my desert update suggestions. Link to part 1 here:Desert Update Part 1: Small Features and Dungeon Overhaul. Last time we looked at tiny features and how to make dungeons like the End City or the Woodland Mansion more fair. Now Lets get down to the real action in the desert.
1: Termite Mounds: Termites have been announced for Minecraft already. but they are planned to spawn in the savvana. In my opinion they would fit more in the desert and Mojang doesn't have to do any more developing than they already planned for this feature.
2: Desert Explorer Map: Why do the woodlands and the deep sea have all the fun? Lets give the desert something to work with! A desert explorer map is obtained like any other explorer map. You need to trade enough times with the cartographer to obtain it. Following the map will lead you someplace very special. The Oasis Village.
3-1: Oasis Village: Villagers: These new villager types only have 2 external features that set them apart from other villagers. 1: New clothing type. 2: Since the village is in a remote place, there cannot be raids here. These villagers will sell you very specific items. Mostly gold gear and fish. I will tell you why in a sec. But these villagers are much more vulnerable to mobs like husks and zombies. Since there are no Iron golems to defend them. And the only lights come from a lantern inside the cavern.
3-2: Normal Homes: Oasis Villagers have varied home structures. Lots of them are placed on stilts( To avoid sand blowing around). These homes can sometimes be roofless, Built on a tree, or even have bedroom that happens to be places on an outside deck.
3-3: Marketplace: The marketplace is a area in the center of the village that has the ONLY villagers in the oasis who will trade with you:
The Weaponsmith/Armorsmith: Gives you gold gear and sometimes they have enchants
The Fisherman: Gives you a variety of fish
The Shepherd: Sells you wool, shears, and a Llama mount!
3-4: Amphitheatre: No, it's not what you're thinking. This is a large sandstone platform with an old tree in the center. The tree is surrounded by an outer circle of chairs(staircases) and villagers will come and sit in them to watch a show which other villagers will preform.
3-5: Llama Pen: This is a small ground level hut that has a animal pen with 1-3 llamas out the back. This structure is important if you want to unlock the shepherd's best trades. witch can only be unlocked by buying one of these big furry guys!
3-6: Pond: Without a pond, there's no oasis! This is where the fisherman gets his fish! Its very crucial to this village and provides the most light from the torches around it. So that area in specific keeps the monsters
3-7: Gold Mine: This is a small cave located in the center of the village. This is also where the explorer map tracks the village icon. Inside you will find tons of gold ore and a water source that flows directly to the pond.
Well. that's all there is for part two. Please leave your positive and negative feedback down below! I will be posting part 3 soon
