Since you can now make almost anything out of a variety of wood types it follows that this should extend to sticks. Different types of sticks can be used to change a lot of stuff but specifically I want to talk about using this for different types of bows/crossbows.
Here's why we should implement this- since swords and axes have different speeds and damages to match combat styles this can be replicated for bows, which are somewhat boring. I know the addition of crossbows does this, but I feel that having an in-depth customization feature for both bows AND crossbows gives you a feeling of personality. This also provides a reasonable alternative to the somewhat op quick charge enchantment.
Using different sticks to craft your bow/crossbow affects the weapon and recolors it. Here's how it could go for both bows and crossbows:
Birch Bow- Lowest base damage but the fastest draw speed.
Spruce Bow- Lower damage than current but somewhat faster.
Oak Bow- The current bow.
Acacia Bow- Somewhat more damaging and somewhat slower to draw.
Dark Oak Bow- More damage and slower to draw.
Jungle Bow- Highest damage and longest draw time, a heavy hitter.
In addition "string" could become string and cave spider string. Crafting wool and other stuff is the same for both, but using cave spider string on bows/crossbows improves them since it's rarer.
The cave spider bowstring is signified with a blue tinge. Bows with cave spider string have an extra 200 durability. This is useful since mending bows can't have infinity.
Thanks for listening!
