Minecraft has a lot of blocks, but what if they had more? Why do we need them? Please don't just add lists of things - these will be marked as spam and removed! Also, no furniture, guns, or vertical/"sideways"/"upright"/"standing" slabs (yes, we see you).

Tying both end of leads to a fence (rope-like fence)

Allowing us to tie the end of a lead to a fence without having a mob on it, and being able to tie both ends on the fences to make a lead in between them would open up possibilities for building. this effect would create something that resembles a rope fence but wouldn’t actually act as one.
This does not provide any gameplay elements other than creativity to builds and attention to detail.

    I absolutely love this idea! This would have so much potential from a creative standpoint. We could finally build proper power lines for modern builds or tram lines, adding ropes to tents, building rope bridges, or adding ropes to mediterranean city streets for clothes to hang off of. The possibilities are endless.

    I like this idea and actually had the same idea (partly why im here). I do have an addition though. *Coloured Leads* adding a bit of detail to the concept of decoration. Example: Black Leads can be used for telephone pole wires

    Being able to tie leads between two fences wrold allow rope like objects like ropes for sail boats or to look like something is being pulled up or pulled in general and maybe if they do this they could add a pulley.Please Minecraft add this.Please 😀

    Just came by to see if this was suggested and it was! Would love to see this added. Right now they are using hidden entities but those can sometimes be unreliable.

    It would also be nice if you could tie two animals together too, not just fence posts. I would also want to be able to use leads on hostile mobs in creative mode, but that's beside the point.

    There IS a way to use ropes to make bridges now.

    It simply involves being horrible to animals.

    You tie the lead to the bunny.  You put the bunny in the cold, cold, ground.  You cover up the bunny with a rock.

    And you tie the bunny lead to the post.  

     

    All everyone sees in the nice wire, never knowing you have had to BURY A BUNNY ALIVE to get your nice effect.

    There are plenty of videos that go into how to do this.

     

    Microsoft, we are waiting on you to allow leads to be used as rope decorations and prevent future bunny cruelty.

    This is a great idea. However, the lead should be thinker when attached to fences, so that it looks more like rope and less like string.

    This would be so amazing and would improve the Minecraft experience immensely!! So many cool things you could do if you could attach leads to each end of a fence. Please add this Minecraft!!

    Absolutely awesome idea. Would be great for creating fences on boats, docks, and bridges, but honestly, there are so many great applications that haven't been thought of and I'm sure the Minecraft community would love them. For example, it could even be used to create a rock climbing gym by having the ropes connected to the top and bottom of a wall.

    This is something I was about to post:

    Allow player to interact directly with fenceposts with a lead in hand to swing from the fence post.

    This is useful for parkour.

    You can also allow the lead to stretch between 2 fenceposts for decoration.
    This is useful for building

    This uses already existing features to create a new one.

    If you add this, add Controllable swinging with it

    This would be really cool, but removing the maximum lead length just for tying a lead to 2 poles would be needed to make builds like the bridges possible.

    I was thinking something very similar.
    But I like the idea of it working as some kind of fence as well. As some kind of minor guard rail or something, with a feel similar to player hit boxes.
    e.g. cannot walk through it unless sprinting, crouching or jumping
     

    It would also be cool if you could choose how much slack the rope has more (creative potential)

    Definitely agree. Have seen someone mention burying an animal (feel like armadillos would also work well) which can work but is very limiting as you have to have a 3x3x3 cube to hide them in which can sometimes ruin your build (e.g. ship's rigging which is what I want it for). Feel like it wouldn't even be difficult to implement.

    Since we can now attach two animals to each other, it just feels like a weird omission to not be able to tie two fence posts together. It seems like the natural final step to make leads feel like a polished feature.

    I would love to see this implemented! Leads behaving more like ropes would be fantastic. You could potentially link two minecarts together so they behave more like a train, you could tie one end to a post and one to a lantern and have a more "dangly" type of lighting, you could create significantly more aesthetic bridges by being able to simulate cables that support the structure... oh wow I wish this was added.
