Building up is easy, building down is hard. Wanting to get down from a high place without dropping, or build a platform below a floating island. I propose a weighted slab. It would have to work with a rope or a chain.
Both the rope and chain should work like a vine, so that the player could climb up and down it. The rope and chain should also be placed, similar to the way scaffolding is placed, a block is added of chain bellow, when the player clicks on the fist block in the series. Or a block of rope is added below when the player clicks on the top rope block.
The weighted block would be affected by gravity.
To use the weighted half slab: the user would place the first rope or chain block attaching it to the side of a block. Then the player would attach this weighted half slab.by clicking on the rope or chain. This would place the half slab below the rope block. Once done, the player can then add rope or chain to the top rope or chain block and the weighted half slab will be lowered down. Then the player needs only to climb down the rope once it is low enough. The weighted block will act as a "stop" so the player won't drop off the end of the rope or chain. Blocks can be added to the side of the weighted block to build from there.
It should drop once the rope or chain is broken from above. It should do damage to any mobs, or players under it, like an anvil when dropped.
This could be used to make traps, or just make it easier to build under things.
It would look like a half slab with a metal ring on top, where the rope or chain would attach. It would be formed from using iron ingots with a stone slab.
