From the searching that I have done, I have not been able to find any posts specifically talking about a cube Minecraft world, but I could be wrong.
As a reference, this is close to what I am imagining:

While this idea may not be considered for near future updates due to its technical demands, I think it should be considered something to aim for. This idea would open up a world of opportunities for the updates that followed, such as a multi-planet solar system for space exploration, but I might be getting ahead of myself there lol. It could also be set up to when a player sets up the world, they can choose a radius that they want the world to be, such that a 5000 radius would be a 10kx10kx10k cube world. While I am not an expert with how the game functions to its core, I am assuming problems such as chunk rendering would arise. Currently, the chunks are rendered as a 16x16 square from y=0 to y=256 (I think), and given that there would now be a largely expanded y-axis, it would have to be separated similarly to the x and z-axis. This idea definitely needs further evaluation from someone with a better understanding of the game-play mechanics than I do, since I can't fully understand how it would effect the game on a technical level. With that in mind, I think this idea would open up a door to almost unlimited creativity, adding to the already immensely creative game. The idea may not be feasible at the moment, but it would definitely create a substantial amount of opportunities for future imagination.
