First of all, it's my first time giving feedback to Mojang in 9 years I've been playing. I've always thought you were doing great so I didn't need to complain.
In the 1.13 and 1.14 the game has changed and evolved a lot. Now we have a lot of brand new mechanics that are being used by the players. But the game is still too easy and when you beat the Ender Dragon, there is a high chance of you being able to do whatever you want with a minimum cost of resources.
What if it was harder to reach the point where you beat the Ender Dragon? To do that, I suggest removing the crafting recipes for new blocks. How to find them? There's already a way: villages. With the new Bad Omen status effect — which by the way should be given in more ways to the player — it will be harder to get the tables for free and the sense of exploring will be greater.
I also find another mistake in the development. Have you noticed the tables doesn't barely give any benefits beside a cheaper crafting? I suggest removing recipes for crafting stuff like the stairs from the crafting table and only allow it with the stone cutter. It shouldn't be weird, it already happened with the grindstone and repairing tools. Using the stone cutter for crafting slabs and stairs will force you to find one in a village. You will need to explore in order to get a pretty building style.
You will need to explore in order to get whatever the fletching table and the smithing table does. Still not convinced? We got an exclusive feature from the cartography table: locking maps.
Some utilities that could have the new blocks:
- Fletching table: make it the only way of crafting tipped arrows or "upgrading" crossbows/bows. Nerf the anvil "enchanting" so the fletching table gets the ability of adding enchantments.
- Smithing table: make it the only way of crafting swords, armor, leather horse armor and shields. Nerf the anvil "enchanting" so the smithing table obtains the ability of adding enchantments.
Blocks like the anvil and the crafting table would receive nerfs, but think about it. Will players NEED those crafting tables when they have one single all-for one? I'm playing on the snapshots and I don't find any usages beside cheaper crafts.
On the counterside, it would remove the "crafting shapes" for some items, but come to think of it, it will give new GUIs to plugin and modding developers.
Thank you for your attention. Keep up the great work.
