Minecraft has a lot of blocks, but what if they had more? Why do we need them? Please don't just add lists of things - these will be marked as spam and removed! Also, no furniture, guns, or vertical/"sideways"/"upright"/"standing" slabs (yes, we see you).

Trains

The train would be an awesome addition to Minecraft. We have minecarts, be having coal powered trains like the furnace minecrart would be cool. We could be able to pull large amounts of wood or other items in storage carts, and you could make a massive railway that could take you across long distances. Wouldn’t it be cool if we could walk around on each of the carts without falling off, and we could sleep in a cart, and build up to a certain amount of blocks on a cart. It would keep the blocks on the trailer and it would allow players to create their own trains! It would be awesome!!

    Rails can already go for extremely long distances and a storage cart is a chest in minecart in Minecraft plus chests that are in minecarts can carry more then even 18 stacks of wood. Chests in minecarts can carry any item or block in game then just wood too.

    I like this idea but it'll be very complicated due to the game having to constantly update the location and rotation of each block placed on the train

    I agree. Tekkit was a mod for minecraft that really made the game going back in the days. If Minecraft want's to evolve, it needs to start adding higher technologies

    It would be a cool idea, like we already have done this with Immersive railroading and traincraft… but those aren't on 1.14, so i like the idea

    I don't know about all that stuff, but it would be really simple to allow us to link carts together, and have a coal powered engine. That would be awesome :D

    I want to have a train on my realm to travel fast between my cities. Minecart is fine but sometimes it takes too long to drive from one place to another. Maybe some option to combine few carts to obtain a cart for more than one player, and faster than normal :)

    I love this idea...recently commented on another similar post about rail tracks...specifically being able to intersect tracks with crossing tracks and switch tracks (tracks that intersect, and the player has the ability to decide which track joins to which track via a lever of red-stone mechanism).

    Being able to build working railroads would be awesome for moving large quantities of materials from one work-site to another (which is something I often need to do).

    Having train engines, that is coal-powered mine-carts would be an added bonus, because it would no longer require powered rail to move the cart (engine). The engine would burn coal, or wood.

    For me, a simple train would do; whereby the train option would be comprised of a steam engine that can be created separate of the coal car and a caboose. Say, for instance, building the caboose and connecting it to the end of an engine, coal cart, at least one mine cart, activates the trains ability to move forward. Building a coal cart and connecting it to the engine allows the engine only to move forward. Train connected mine carts would continue to hold the same capacities of loads that are current with today's mod.

    Provide the option to build simple control panels that allow for switches to function without supervision or proximity handling by character location.

    Have always wanted more trains in Minecraft. We've got everything else being evolved and expanded (i.e Animals, buildings, biomes) but the minecarts and railroad items are still the same as they have been for.... always? The trains & Zeppelin mod started something cool, and that was continued with the Immersive Railroading and Traincraft mods too. Though, why is it so hard to have a simple steam locomotive, tender, and assorted freight and passenger cars to help expand? And the switches/curves of current tracks are so small. If a painting can be designed to cover a 3x3 or 2x3 or 2x2 (etc) space, is it much harder to design track pieces that do the same?

    I think trains are a great idea but i was also thinking it could be a simple steam engine but crafted like this:

    ii = Iron ingot, sl = wood slab, fu = furnace, ws = wood stair, and E = empty

    it would be called the "western train" and for traincars a "linked minecart" crafted like this:

    ch = chain, mi = minecart

    Have 1 block high 1 block wide 2 blocks long sized copper steam train powered by coal/charcoal by placing it in the furnace like how you use the horse inventory you could link mine carts to the train making a useful transport vehicle it could be created by using 4 copper campfire and blast or normal furnace I think it would be handy in survival and look cool in creative and it would make railroad travel a lot more fun

    With the cavern update this is prime time to do so.

    Minecarts are expensive, slow, VERY buggy, and not very useful. The most use I see them get is in farms. With the elytra change brought about due to worries about power creep, I hope the light eventually comes to minecarts being completely irrelevant.

    I absolutely love the idea of adding trains to Minecraft! It would be a really cool and immersive way to travel long distances and transport large amounts of goods. I especially like the idea of being able to walk around on the carts without falling off, and being able to build up to a certain amount of blocks on a cart. It would give players so much more creative freedom and the ability to customize their own trains. Of course, there may be some technical challenges to consider, but I trust that the Minecraft developers are up to the task. I can't wait to see what they come up with!

    i think this idea is genius! Minecart trains would be good for transporting animals and resources. it would also be good if bedrock could get a furnace minecart to act as an engine for a train. it would require coal to run and would travel a certain distance per coal piece but charcoal would be a better fuel. when on  powered minecart rails the furnace minecart would travel even faster since regular minecarts on powered rails dont go very fast.

    What if you crafted each piece of the train separate? like for the boiler (where the water is) it would be a barrel surrounded in copper or iron, for the smokestack (or funnel if you're British) it whould be 2 iron ingots and a hopper.

    I think it's time now to add trains where you can create your own services and stations across the map add different lines different tracks because we're in 2024 now we shouldn't have to use mods it should just be an addition to the game and also there needs to be more transport eg cars,planes,ships,jets etc

    I've been wanting this for so long. Most of the infrastructure already exists. The tracks already exists the item that can become a coupler already exists in the form of chains and can be easily added and removed by simply allowing them to be applied between minecarts as well as removed by right clicking allowing custom consists of all varieties in both types and lengths. Minecarts could be used for livestock, villager, and passenger rail. Minecarts with chests would serve for all block transportation including buckets for lava and water allowing for much easier facilitation of outposts capable of cobblestations production and many simple farms. While minecarts with hoppers and tnt would be able to serve for distant mining and quarry operations. Powered carts could be created by simply adding Redstone and copper using the furnace cart as the center of the recipe grid. Allowing for coal to be used just as it was with furnace carts which would allow the old system to power them to simply be recycled. Allow the carts to power in either direction or allow them to be picked up like any other block and placed on either snd of a freight consist. The only other big thing for me is allow perpendicular crossover on rails which even for regular minecarts would help. This will ensure a much easier exploration of our world's over long distances and the ability to build larger and more complex creations thanks to a much more efficient means of transporting building/raw materials
